Beyond Academics

The much awaited Sports Meet of Guru Nanak Ayurvedic Medical College & R.I., Gopalpur was held on 14-03-2018 & 15-03-2018 with great real, excitement’s frolicsome atmosphere. The programme begins with welcome speech of our Principal Dr. Ashwani Sharda. He welcomed the esteemed gathering & emphasized on the importance of sports in students life. The Chief Guest our worthy Chairmen Dr. Balwinder Singh Waila, Gen. Secretary Dr. Iqbal Singh Walia, Director Dr. Y.N. Sharma, and Principal Dr. Ashwani Sharda chaired the occasion. The programme started in a grand way with the oath being administered by the sports captain. On energizing equestrian display set the tone for rest of the event. The students displayed karate display messmerisy the audience with their energetic performances. Students of all the batches competed in events including sprints, relays, sack race, obstacle race and skipping race. Fun time with a staff relay and tag-of-war between houses added to the enjoyment.

The Sports and Cultural Meet of Guru Nanak Group of Colleges, Gopalpur was held on 15-03-2018. Chief Guest Dr. Balwinder Singh Walia, Chairman, Guru Nanak Educational Charitable Society (Regd.) hoisted the National flag and inaugurated two days sports meet. The events Students participated in 100 metre, 200 metre, 400 metre and 4x100 metre race, fun races. Field events like long jump, shot put, discus throw and javelin throw. Students also took part in Games like Kho-Kho, volleyball, cricket and football. The main attraction of closing ceremony was Tug of War.

Inter college cultural meet was organized in the categories of Shabad recitation, solo song, group song, solo dance, group dance, skit and giddha. S. Gagan Ajit Singh, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Ludhiana (investigation) was the Chief Guest on the occasion. Prizes and trophies were distributed to the winners.

Guru Nanak College of Education, Gopalpur organized skill in teaching and on the spot teaching aid competition among various College of Education of Zonal (Zone-B) in collaboration with Punjab University Chandigarh on Feb 8, 2018. The chief guest of the day was Dr. Mukesh Arora. Chairman, Guru Nanak Charitable Society Dr. Balwinder Singh Walia, Gen. Sec. Dr. Iqbal Singh Walia were also present there. Principals of various school and college and Assistant professors of various colleges of Education were among the special guest of the day. The subjects of the competition were Social Science, Commerce and Economics. 15 colleges of zone B participated in the completion with full enthusiasm. Prizes were given to the students / winners of various Colleges of Education. The chief guest Prof. Mukesh Arora distributed prizes among the winner and congratulated the winners as well as all the participants.

The Seven day self financed NSS Camp was organized during winter vacation at village Dehlon, Dist. Ludhiana, by Guru Nanak College of Education, Gopalpur, Ludhiana. The camp was organized by keeping in mind the following objectives:-

  • To ensure the elimination of social evils from the society.
  • To help them to secure good health through cleanliness drive.
  • To make people aware about the causes, symptoms, prevention and cure of diseases like Chickengunia, dengue and sexually transmitted diseases.
  • To inform them about the harmful impacts of environmental degradation and its protection.
  • To motivate people for making their surroundings green by growing more and more trees.
